Yes. Our 8 year old loved it.
Yes they offer a sailor sandwich... It is very good.
Midnight
We had the pleasure of having Logan as our server today and he was outstanding!! He treated us with love and respect and our food was out of this world!!! I can't wait to go back 😍🤩
I usually like everything from here. I ordered steak and cheese. The steak had no flavor. No salt or pepper was used to cook. It was not worth the price. Never again
Good place. Hadn't been in years. Foods good, atmosphere's good, service is good, prices reasonable. Great trip down memory lane!
Really good cheese fries but definitely overpriced on some things, especially drinks. During dinner or VCU games the place can get super packed but they have a lot of booths and the service is consistently decent, also food comes out pretty quick. Milkshakes are giant. A reliable and corny option if you're tryna get a meal around VCU.
Love the breakfast menu, everything is made fresh and tastes simply delicious. The team working is super friendly 👍
Very very very nice great atmosphere outstanding service
Have not eaten such tasty and fresh Quesadillas in ages - crispy and fresh, soft as snow ! Also the chicken sandwich was filling and was really tasty 😋! Has a very good cozy interior and the staff is too courteous and smiley faces around just made my noon :)
Amazing food and great service. A really cool restaurant and atmosphere.
Love this place. A mini pitcher of tea and most any food you like. Delicious vegetarian options as well as unique one off specials. Sandwiches, entrees, you name it, they have it. Create your own hummus pitas sandwich. Mmm
I went here for breakfast, with an empty stomach, and i exited with a happy and full belly plus plenty of leftovers! The servers are really nice and the dishes are GINORMOUS! I had a fried mozzarella balls platter as a starter, and for my main dish, I had the country fried steak platter with mashed potatoes, bread, and macaroni and cheese!! I was really happy to come here and I thoroughly enjoyed it! :)
A vibrant spot to get great breakfast and have drinks with friends. It’s in the middle of the Virginia Commonwealth University campus so it attracts a lot of students. It’s a great spot to have drinks and watch a game. It’s open till late and convenient for students that don’t want to go far out for a good time.
I love this place, I have going to the Village since I was in college. The food it amazing the atmosphere is laid back, it's affordable, I love The Village!
First time in many years. The last time I was there they were on the other side of the street. Great service ,food, and drinks. Bartender was great, he worked very hard and didn't show it
Fast, friendly service. Excellent milkshakes. Generous portions. Spinach salad very fresh. Beautiful stromboli with flaky crust and savory filling.
Very good food. Large portions. Good variety. A must stop when visiting VCU.
Their portions are large, and I mean enough for 2 people or for left overs. The bartender's demeanor is pleasant. Takeout is ready much quicker than expected. The whole experience is quick and smooth. Almost forgot to mention that the food is rich and tasteful. The food style is a hybrid between a cafe and a diner.
Great food for a decent price. Very homey atmosphere. Onion rings are insanely good!
Cozy and busy breakfast and lunch place. Our sandwiches were really good, but omelets and waffles etc. looked scrumptious too!
After living in Richmond for 5 years I've finally discovered this place and frankly I'm kicking myself for not finding it sooner. The food was incredible and the milkshake was divine. (Actual ground coffee beans in my milkshake?!) I'll certainly be back.
First-rate vibes and very welcoming service. The meals were crisp and yummy. Will surely recommend this spot to others. Reasonable rates and generous meals. Good job.
Best food in this area and VCU campusI ate fish and chips. High quality, delicious food! Nice atmosphere :) A little expensive comparing to other restaurants in this area. Recommend to all and definitely try other foods. Staff was super nice. 6 STAR
The service was great and the server was awesome. The food was delicious. I would travel another 2 hours for breakfast again.
The Village Cafe was my "go-to" restaurant back in college... Just moved back to the Richmond area from Chicago, and the menu is just as solid as it was 7 years ago. All of the great sandwiches you could possibly want (Sailor Sandwich YES!), with pizza, pasta, calzones, salads, burritos, breakfast, and of course that iconic, ice-cold PBR, in a Village Cafe pint glass. One of a few classics remaining among the growing number of chain restaurants in the VCU area.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the servers are friendly
First time visit and had club sandwich. Enjoyed it and the tasty fries along with the pitcher shaped glass of Coke.
My 1st visit there (google reviews helped), staff was friendly and helpful and the food i ordered was different (breakfast pizza) but actually good and i enjoyed their pitcher glasses of iced tea. I definitely can see another visit in the future when i pass thru Richmond again. The ambience was delightful.Update: My second visit has made me like the cafe even more. I enjoyed their Potato Skins appetizer which was very delicious & plentiful serving for both of us. There was no skimping on this selection. My ribeye sandwich was also delicious, served with Onions rings which I subbed for the fries(didn't want to overload on starch since i had the potato skins.) Yet a nice day in Richmond completed by a visit to nearby VMFA. They truly earned my 5stars, staff, food, & ambience make this worth the drive to Richmond. I haven't tried their bar yet but that is on my to do list.
Service was fantastic! And the food was very good! I had the meatloaf, at the bartender's recommendation, and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend it. One note: the entrance/bar area got super crowded when the VCU game was about to start.
The service here is terrible. The waitress kept digging and touching her nose. I did not see her clean and sanitized her hands once. And I found hair in my food. I was so disappointed from this experience. I will not return after this experience.
Nice and well-organized place. They have many brands and fresh products at Competitive prices.
A nice place to eat with a comfortable, quirky atmosphere. All the food we had was fantastic and the wait staff was very helpful. I'd eat here again!
Village cafe is the perfect Saturday morning greasy spoon eatery that college kids crave. The portions are huge but the price is reasonable. Service is fantastic! Both attentive and accommodating. Would totally recommend if you are less into gourmet food pairings and more into eating pancakes as big as your face.
I tried enjoying the nacho salad but there were more chips than anything else. Would not go back.
My favorite part of the place were the cups. They serve your drink in a small pitcher which you drink out of. I had tea, but they will put two beer draft pints in a pitcher for you to drink from if you request it. The server was good. She refilled our drinks without being prompted. I had the Turkey melt which tasted really good. The place is bigger then it looks like from the outside.
One of my favorite Richmond haunts. I've lived here over 20 years and the Village has been my stomping grounds continually. Now I take my kids there and they love it too!
Love love love this place. Best meatloaf! Menu has a vast variety to choose from. Definitely recommend this place.
Busy student favorite one block off Broad Street. Have only been for brunch twice and had the cowboy burrito both times. Very filling and tasty. Hash browns might be called home fries by some and were a little salty. Very crowded and noisy but service was excellent and food arrived quickly. Drinks served in little pitchers.
Great food great atmosphere
Sometimes is all about making memories and enjoying life in the moment. My kids and their friends thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Especially when their, what I like to call "manly mugs" came out. You couldn't tell them nothing. The serving size is always big and you are guaranteed to get more for your buck. The seating is a little tight so I would call ahead and ask if they have room for a large party. I've never gone pass the front seating area so I cant vouch for them as far as a conference room goes but it was 6 of us and they were able to accommodate. Even with minimum table space, you will enjoy your food. The waiters and waitresses are polite and attentive.
Great food. Great setting. Staff was super nice. Would give 6 stars if I could.
Food is good, service is quick. The bartender during the day could be a little more friendly. His hospitality seems like its forced versus genuine.
Dropped in here totally because of COVID 19 and was totally delighted with friendly service, a tasty meal and great prices. I started with a well-made gin and tonic to a company The hummus platter that we had as a starter with my friends. The starter was an abundant plate of hummus, tomatoes, cheese, onions and warm pita bread. I enjoyed the salmon dinner which was cooked a beautiful rare by my request. My friends both had the Caesar salad with salmon on top which they also enjoyed thoroughly. Are your companies my dinner with a glass of Picpoul wine. I will certainly be back.
Awesome place. Great food. A must go. Everything tastes fresh. The menu selection was very good and great Coffee as well.
Wonderful tasting food, great prices. Prime location, bar nd sports. Ordered buffalo chicken sandwich, it’s really yummy. Quesadillas are perfect, one of the best tasting for sure. Decent Customer service. But beware if u try to visit during lunch time, its gonna be real busy.
As usual the service and food was Awesome. Been dining here since '89
Fun atmosphere with great service. Had fish and chips which were good. Would come back for sure. Diverse menu and some neat original cocktails.
Got a cheeseburger and added bacon for a dollar, and there were four pieces! Delicious!! Fries were okay. Then, we got the special half rack of pork barbecue ribs with broccoli and coleslaw. The ribs were amazing! The meat was falling off the bone… Couldn’t even eat them with your hands! We had to eat them with a fork but oh my goodness they were divine. Broccoli was unseasoned/steamed, and the coleslaw was good and creamy. Definitely going there again, especially because it was so affordable too.
Steak & cheese sub had no seasoning & the fries were bland as well, the temperature was fine but I wouldn't order this again. The person with me got a club & I tasted a small piece of that which was good. I will return.
Great cozy little place, decent pricing and good quality. They stay busy, which means they are popular!!
Best food I had all week! The drinks were a pleasant surprise to find they serve you your drink in a pitcher as well.
Good atmosphere, delicious coffee and food, helpful staff! Great place to meet friends!
